Learn Polish Pro

Teaching Polish as a foreign language all over the world: individually, in groups, stationary, online, and on every level.

About me

Cześć (which means “Hi” in Polish). My name is Łukasz, I am a native Polish speaker and a professional Polish teacher. I graduated in Polish philology (Polish studies), I also obtained a PhD in this field. I live in New Zealand, I have been here since early 2020, where I conduct Polish lessons at all levels, stationary and online, in group and individually. Moreover, I am the director of the Polish School in Auckland, which operates at the Auckland Polish Association.

Before New Zealand, I was an academic lecturer in Poland for 20 years, working at many universties. I tought Polish studies and Polish as a foreign language (e.g. for students, scientists, businessmen, people of every age and level of proficiency, and from many different countries).

Teaching and sharing the knowledge is for me something more than only a profession – it’s a true passion and I really love it!

      Pole's Card

Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka) is an official document confirming belonging to the Polish nation. It is also an important step towards obtaining Polish citizenship. Anyone with Polish roots can apply for the Pole’s Card. This involves the necessity to complete a special application, prepare documents confirming the origin and pass the exam at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the knowledge of the Polish language, as well as the history of Poland and Polish habits.

I help in the process of applying for the Pole’s Card, and above all in preparing for the exam.

      FAQ

      • What type of Polish language are you teaching?

Unlike many other languages, there is basically one type (variant) of Polish. Of course, Polish can be used in its official and colloquial form – I will help you learn both. I understand perfectly need to supplement the academic language with everyday (colloquial) language.

      • Are online classes effective? I am concerned about listening / speaking (sound quality).

Online classes are as effective form of learning as stationary. We work on a shared document where we both have the opportunity to write and comment – thanks to this we can clearly see, discuss and practice all elements of the Polish language.

During the classes, I use high-class professional Røde / Shure microphones (to make my voice as clearly heard as possible) and professional Sony studio monitor headphones (to control the correctness of your pronunciation).

In addition, I am based in New Zealand (Auckland CBD) and use the high-speed (300Mbps) fiber optic link provided by Vodafone, which allows for fast data transmission without delays.

      • Do I need to know the basics of Polish language to participate in your classes?

You absolutely do not need to know even a single Polish word to start learning this language with me. I run classes for all levels of advancement – also for those who just want to start their adventure with the Polish language.

      • Is Polish language difficult to learn?

It is true that Polish is certainly not the easiest language in the world, but it is definitely not the most difficult one either. Since it is used by tens of millions of people, you can also learn it – and I will be very happy to help you with that. Self-learning of any language is difficult and strenuous, so an experienced teacher can make it much easier, and faster. And I believe that also more pleasant.

      • Where are the classes held?

Our stationary classes can be held at your home or at work, at my home office, or at any other neutral location in Auckland CBD. It is all a matter of arrangements – during the conversation, we will surely find the best solution together.

      • How long is one lesson? How often should they be held?

One lesson is 60-minutes long (or 1.5 lesson, i.e. 90 minutes). The ideal pace is two meetings a week. This will allow you to make constant, noticeable progress in learning Polish.
